Call for Papers

Aims and Objectives

The domain of cooperative robotics is acquiring a prominent importance in many key application areas. Teams of robots cooperatings among them and/or with humans can perform a variety of tasks in a faster, more reliable, and more flexible way than a single robot. The rapidly growing scientific and industrial interest in cooperative robotics makes this domain extremely important for graduate students and young researchers in the field of autonomous robotics. The workshop will offer a forum where senior and young researchers can discuss their ideas and results on cooperative robotics. The workshop will include presentations by young researchers, invited talks by top-level scientists, presentations of European groups active in cooperative robotics, and a panel discussion. These events will be held in a half-day single track to keep the participants together at all times.

This Workshop has four primary aims. First, to expose international researchers in general, and graduate students in particular, to the latest technologies for cooperative robotics. Second, to help young researchers and students to create an international network of contacts. Third, to consolidate the research community in this field, which is still somehow dispersed, especially in Europe. Fourth, to enhance the visibility of European research on cooperative robotics.

The workshop will offer a forum where senior and young researchers can discuss their ideas and results. It will include: two invited talks, meant to introduce the attendees to the research fronteer in the field; paper sessions, devoted to student presentations of significant research results; and a European Projects poster session, where European groups that are active in Cooperative Robotics will be given an opportunity to present their work. These events will be held in a single track to keep the participants together at all times.


The Workshop will cover all advanced topics related to the study and the development of autonomous and semi-autonomous cooperative multi-robot systems, including:


We solicit submissions of student papers reporting significant research results. Papers should be maximum 8 pages, following ICRA-2005 paper format instructions available at http://www.icra2005.org/frontal/PaperFormat.asp. Papers must have a full time student as first author. Submissions must be sent by e-mail to pal@isr.ist.utl.pt as a PDF file. Other, non-standard formats (e.g., Word) cannot be accepted. In the body of the e-mail message, you must specify the following:

Paper title Name, affiliation, and email of all authors Name, email, and postal address of corresponding author Phone and fax of corresponding author Keywords (max 5) Abstract (maximum 200 words)

All submissions will be acknowledged within a few days. Papers will be reviewed for quality and relevance and the decision of acceptance will be mailed to the corresponding author. Accepted papers will be included in the workshop notes, distributed at the workshop, and published on the workshop's web site. At least one author of each accepted paper must register in ICRA-2005 and attend the workshop.
